An 8 kW on-grid solar system for Maldives Islamic Bank
In September 2025, SQ Depot installed an 8 kW on-grid solar system for the Maldives Islamic Bank outlet in Naifaru. The work was completed between 1 and 5 September 2025.
What an on-grid solar system involves
An on-grid system generates electricity from rooftop panels and connects directly to the utility grid. When the sun is producing, the building draws from the solar array first; the grid supplies the difference as demand changes through the day.
For a working bank outlet, the installation had to be planned so that business continued without interruption:
- Survey and design: roof space, orientation, shading, and the outlet’s daytime load profile.
- Mounting and electrical work: panel mounting, DC cabling, inverter connection, and grid-side wiring.
- Commissioning and testing: insulation tests, inverter setup, protection checks, and safe disconnection procedures.
- Handover: operational guidance so the team understands generation readings and maintenance basics.
Why it matters
For businesses in the Maldives, solar generation reduces dependence on fuel-based electricity, lowers operating costs, and demonstrates a practical commitment to renewable energy.
Every installation is different. Roof condition, structure, load patterns, and island logistics all shape how the work is planned.
